UKZN Impi cleans Up!

The UKZN Impi Rugby team were to be seen cleaning the streets on the following Saturdays this year:

  • 6th July 2019
  • 31st August 2019
  • 28th September 2019
  • 7th December 2019

In an initiative lead by their sponsors Truda Foods, the boys wore pink vests and collected over 300 bags of rubbish. Spurred on by Sandi Mbanjwa with a microphone and music the team lead by coaches Anathi Swartbooi & Nic Haswell belted out a message and were an inspiration to all.

“It is a wonderfully uplifting experience and a great deal of fun”, said Zilungile Ntombela the Sports co-ordinator at UKZN “The underlying message is that litter is not just the responsibility of the Msunduzi Municipality but that each and every one of us must take ownership and in so doing we can make a difference. We live in beautiful country that deserves our respect and nurturing”.

The team can’t wait to get back on the road in the new year to clean up more streets in Pietermaritzburg!
